Vol. 561 No. 2

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Paddy McHugh

Question:

325 Mr. McHugh asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when approval will be given to proceed with work for the provision of a new sewerage scheme for Creggs village, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3819/03]

A preliminary report for Creggs sewerage scheme was submitted to my Department by Galway County Council in 1999 but has not been approved. The scheme was 17th in the list of sewerage schemes submitted by the council in response to my Department's request to local authorities to undertake fresh assessments of the needs for capital works in their areas and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments. The priority lists were taken into account in the framing of the water services investment programme 2002-04, published in April 2002. As of the level of competing demand and the need to prioritise individual proposals on a national basis it has not been possible to include the scheme in the programme.
