109 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance the nature of the discussions between his Department and Kildare County Council regarding the issue of the persistent flooding at Mill Lane, Leixlip, County Kildare; if he has had sight of proposals or taken initiatives to deal with the issue; if his attention has been drawn to the urgency of the situation; if the local authority has the necessary funding to meet costs associated with alleviation proposals; and if he will make a statement on the matter. 113 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if the necessary funding will be allocated to enable Kildare County Council undertake measures to combat persistent flooding at Mill Lane, Leixlip, County Kildare; if his Department has had discussions with Kildare County Council on the issue; if an agreement has been reached with a view to resolution; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 109 and 113 together.

The Office of Public Works has had discussions with Kildare County Council in relation to flooding in Leixlip, County Kildare. The county council is arranging for the preparation of a report on the flooding regime in the area of the Rye Water and Liffey in Leixlip. Office of Public Works has offered technical advice in this matter. The report, when available, will be considered by both the council and Office of Public Works.
