Vol. 561 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tax Clearance Certificates.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

112 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance when a C2 will be restored to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4215/03]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes is unable to re-issue the C2 certificate because of taxpayer's unsatisfactory tax compliance record. In addition to various returns that are outstanding, the taxpayer has an unpaid VAT liability for January and February 2001 and an unpaid income tax liability for the year ended 31 December 2001. The inspector wrote to the taxpayer and his agent on 5 February 2003 to explain what the taxpayer needs to do to bring his tax affairs up to date. The inspector cannot consider re-issuing the taxpayer's C2 certificate until such time as the taxpayer is fully tax compliant.

Question No. 113 answered with Question No. 109.
