Question:

114 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Finance if, in accordance with State aid procedures laid down by the European Union, the tax exemptions relief for stallion fees has been notified to the European Commission for approval as a State aid; if so, when; the outcome of same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4252/03]

The European Commission was informed of the tax exemption for stallion stud fees in line with the applicable State aid procedures in June 1982 and on a further number of occasions since then. No subsequent communication was received from the Commission in relation to the exemption.
