Vol. 561 No. 3

Written Answers. - Housing Aid for the Elderly.

Mary Upton

Question:

160 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Health and Children the way in which elderly people can avail of the ?1.7 million funding recently announced for improvements to their homes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4219/03]

The announcement to which the Deputy refers was made by my colleague, the Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal, Deputy Noel Ahern. The funding comprises part of an initial €11 million allocation to the health boards and the ERHA for the operation of the special housing aid for the elderly scheme. The sum of €1.76 million has been allocated to the ERHA.

Persons wishing to avail of the scheme should contact the community care centre of their local health board or authority.
