Vol. 561 No. 3

Written Answers. - Nursing Homes.

Mary Upton

Question:

161 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Health and Children his plans to improve facilities at a location (details supplied) in view of the fact that they are now unsuitable for nursing home care. [4220/03]

The provision of health services in the unit referred to by the Deputy is a matter for the South Western Area Health Board which operates under the aegis of the ERHA.

My Department has been informed by the ERHA that the unit currently has nine patients, seven of whom are long stay and two are respite. The unit does not have a day care facility. It has an eating room and a physiotherapist attends five days a week. The authority has advised that this arrangement is temporary and that patients will be transferred to another unit at the facility pending the completion of ongoing renovations there.
