Vol. 561 No. 5

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

David Stanton

Question:

216 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Education and Science further to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 128 and 136 of 13 February, the number of cases of the 642 deemed to have not provided enough information and were not granted resources as a result of the national educational psychological service review for resource teacher and special needs assistance support; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5031/03]

Based on information received from NEPS approximately 50% of the 642 applications referred to in the earlier parliamentary questions were deemed not to have enough information to support the original application for resources. NEPS, where possible, in these cases made a recommendation as to the nature and level of resources that should be provided based on the information available. These resources have been approved by my Department.
