Vol. 561 No. 5

Written Answers. - Departmental Properties.

Joe Costello

Question:

254 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his plans for the future of the lands at Shanganagh Castle; if he proposes to sell them or continue to use them for the accommodation of offenders; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4978/03]

It is my intention that Shanganagh Castle, located in Shankill, County Dublin standing on grounds of 24 acres, which operated as an open detention centre for juveniles until 20 December 2002, should be sold and the proceeds re-invested in the Prison Service.
