Question:

55 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the total cost of non-civil servants and other such staff attached to her office for each of the years, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001; and the estimated cost for 2002. [4859/03]

For the purpose of this reply, non-civil servants and other such staff are taken to refer to non-established civil servants. The figures for total costs include salary costs, employers PRSI, pension contribution and travel and subsistence expenses. A yearly breakdown of total costs from July 1997 to December 2002 is as follows:
