Question:

127 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of applications for the first time buyers grant which were submitted to his Department after 4 December 2002; the number of these applications which were for houses for which contracts had been signed before 14 November 2002; if he will allow these applications; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Applications under the new house grant scheme, which was terminated as and from 14 November 2002, were required to be received in my Department on or before 4 December 2002. This statutory condition was published in the main daily newspapers on 15 November and again on 29 November. New house grants cannot be allowed in respect of 289 applications received subsequent to that date and the applicants have been informed accordingly.
