Vol. 562 No. 1

Written Answers - Northern Ireland Issues.

Martin Ferris

Question:

298 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will examine the case of a person (details supplied) in County Fermanagh who has been penalised under the environmentally sensitive areas scheme for allowing cattle to graze in an undesignated area, despite the fact that the cattle entered the area due to the cutting of fences by the British Army who have refused to use gates and who have consistently broken fences thereby allowing animals to wander. [5181/03]

I have asked that this matter be raised with the British authorities through the British-Irish Intergovernmental Secretariat in Belfast and I will contact the Deputy directly when we are in receipt of relevant information.
