Vol. 562 No. 1

Written Answers - Schools Building Projects.

Jack Wall

Question:

320 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding the application for two prefab buildings for Brannockstown NS, Kilallen, County Kildare, in view of the fact that the board of management received a letter from the Minister in February 2002 giving it permission to proceed with planning and to hire an architect for the building of two 76 sq. m. pre-fabricated temporary buildings; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5249/03]

The 2003 schools building programme has now been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie.

On the basis of the budgetary allocation, it was not possible to include any further temporary accommodation projects in 2003. The budgetary allocation for 2004 and subsequent years will determine the rate of progress on projects that could not be included in this year's programme.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

321 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding the proposed extension to Clonakilty Community College. [5279/03]

The 2003 capital programme has been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie.

Given the level of financial commitments to be met from projects already under construction, it is not envisaged that my Department will be in a position to initiate architectural planning on any further large scale building projects this year. The proposed extension project at Clonakilty community college will be considered again in the context of the 2004 capital programme.

Joan Burton

Question:

322 Ms Burton asked the Minister for Education and Science the actions he has taken to provide an appropriate temporary site for the Swords Educate Together national school, which is currently housed on a temporary basis in the premises of a sports club; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5293/03]

The 2003 school building programme has now been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie. On the basis of the budgetary allocation it was not possible to make provision in 2003 for the acquisition of a site for Swords Educate Together national school. The budgetary allocation for 2004 and subsequent years will determine the rate of progress on site acquisitions.

Richard Bruton

Question:

323 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science the schools in Dublin 5 which have made proposals for capital projects; the nature of the project in each case; the estimated cost; and the stage of the project in each case. [5305/03]

The information sought by the Deputy is not available in the format requested. The 2003 school building programme has now been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on the Department's website at www.education.ie.

Richard Bruton

324 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science his assessment of the present conditions in which a school (details supplied) is operating; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that land could now be secured for building a proper facility from the local authority; and if money will be released in 2003 in order that this very desirable site can be secured. [5306/03]
