Vol. 562 No. 1

Written Answers - Hospital Doctors.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

398 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps he will take to ensure the appointment of a fourth consultant ophthalmic surgeon for the south eastern region; if additional funding will be provided to ensure that such an appointment can be made without undue delay in order to reduce the current waiting list; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5592/03]

The provision of services, including the appointment of consultant staff, is a matter for the South-Eastern Health Board in the first instance.

My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the board to reply directly to the Deputy in relation to the matter raised.
