Vol. 562 No. 1

Written Answers - Registration of Title.

John Perry

Question:

443 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position regarding a Section 49 Land Registry title application for a person (details supplied); if it will be expedited in view of the fact it is required for further legal transactions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5565/03]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this is an application under section 49 – i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession – of the Registration of Titles Act 1964 which was lodged on 18 October, 2002. Dealing number D2002SM009228J refers.

I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of the applicants entitlement to registration as owner of the property, can take some time to process. Accordingly, it is not possible to estimate a completion date at this stage.

However, I assure the Deputy that the application is receiving attention in the Land Registry.
