Vol. 562 No. 1

Written Answers - Prison Service.

Mary Upton

Question:

449 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform further to Parliamentary Question No. 332 of 5 February 2002, the current position on this matter. [5628/03]

I expect to be in a position to make a decision on this application in the very near future. Should I consent to the application, details of how the sentence will continue to be enforced in this jurisdiction will be forwarded both to the person concerned and to the United Kingdom authorities so that they may make an informed decision on whether they wish to finally consent to the transfer. On receipt of their final consents, assuming they are forthcoming, an application will be made to the High Court for a warrant authorising the transfer of the person concerned.
