Vol. 562 No. 1

Written Answers - Roads Funding.

Fergus O'Dowd

Question:

452 Mr. O'Dowd asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position regarding the proposed Northern Cross Route for Drogheda; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5208/03]

I recently announced a non-national road grant allocation of €6.047 million for Louth County Council for 2003 which included €150,000 under the EU co-financed specific improvement grants scheme for the design stage of the Drogheda Northern Cross Port access scheme.

It will be open to the council to prioritise this project, having regard to compliance with eligibility criteria, for funding under the 2004 EU co-financed specific improvement grants scheme when applications for 2004 are sought by my Department later this year.
