Vol. 562 No. 2

Adjournment Debate Matters.

An Leas-Cheann Comhairle

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Deenihan – the crisis facing providers of services for pupils with medical disabilities in County Kerry because of a shortfall of €400,000 in funding for 2005 which will result in the non-provision of training places for those leaving school in June and additional respite resources for the families of children with special needs; (2) Deputy Seán Ryan – the difficulty in operating Part 5 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 arising from the Department of the Environment and Local Government's circulars in respect of income limit for eligibility for local authority loans, loan limits of €130,000 and the reluctance of the commercial lending institutions to accept the required 'clawback' provisions of the scheme which have all resulted in 'eligible' applicants under the scheme being unable to secure a loan; (3) Deputy Coveney – to ask the Minister for Education and Science if he intends to sanction the commencement of the promised public private partnership project to build a new school of music in Cork; (4) Deputy Boyle – to ask the Minister for Health and Children when it is intended to provide a uniform, national personal assistant scheme for people with physical disabilities and mobility difficulties; (5) Deputies Hayes and Healy – the need for south Tipperary to be included in the decentralisation programme to be announced shortly; (6) Deputy McManus – the serious funding crisis facing Beaumont Hospital and other major teaching hospitals in the greater Dublin area; and (7) Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin – the need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to take urgent action to halt the escalation in the cost of insurance which is having a very damaging effect on economic and social life and the need for the full implementation of the recommendations of the Motor Insurance Advisory Board.

The matters raised by Deputies Coveney, Deenihan, Boyle and McManus have been selected for discussion.
