Vol. 562 No. 2

Written Answers - Gaelic Athletic Association.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

130 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism if the Government has completed its consideration of an application from the Gaelic Athletic Association for assistance in the payment of debts; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5603/03]

The Government has provided financial support totalling €69.84 million to the Gaelic Athletic Association towards the redevelopment of Croke Park. At a meeting in October 2002, the Government told the GAA that a revised application would be required for any further funding towards the redevelopment of Croke Park. The GAA has applied for additional funding for Croke Park and this application is being considered. I should point out that the Estimates for my Department for 2003 do not include a provision for the payment of any further moneys to the GAA in respect of the project.
