Vol. 562 No. 2

Written Answers - Farm Waste Management.

Willie Penrose

Question:

153 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath has been only approved under the farm waste management scheme for a grant of 40% while she is under 35 years of age and has the certificate on farming which qualifies her for the maximum of 55% grant; if he will have same reviewed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5810/03]

The additional aid for young farmers under the farm waste management scheme is only available in the case of young farmers who have been farming for less than five years. As the above-named person had been considered to have been farming for a longer period than five years, she was deemed ineligible for the additional aid. However, the applicant has appealed that decision and this appeal is under consideration by my Department.
