The management authority of Salesian College, Celbridge has submitted an application for an extension and refurbishment works to the school.

Approval to commence architectural planning has not been agreed at this time and due to existing financial commitments my Department does not propose to commence architectural planning in relation to further large-scale projects at this time. The timing as to when this project may proceed is dependant on the funding allocation for 2004 and subsequent years.

An extension project has recently been completed at St. Mary's College, Naas, County Kildare which will cater for an enrolment of 800 pupils. The school authorities subsequently submitted an application for further additional accommodation which has been examined within my Department. The planning and building unit has assessed the long-term enrolment figure for this school at 900 pupils and the school authority has been asked for its views on the matter.
