Vol. 562 No. 3

Written Answers - Arts Promotion.

Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin

Question:

171 Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism the position regarding proposals to enter into a cultural agreement with the Government and people of Cuba; when same will be concluded; and if he has plans to visit Cuba in the near future to formally sign the said agreement. [5968/03]

The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba has recently approached me with a view to negotiating a cultural agreement between that country and Ireland. The request is being examined in the context of the development of my policy in relation to the promotion of Irish art abroad. At this stage I cannot say when such an agreement will be concluded. The location for the signing of any such agreement will be determined at the appropriate time following necessary consultation with my colleague the Minister for Foreign Affairs.
