Olwyn Enright

Question:

82 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science when he intends to appoint a person to conduct an inquiry into the integrity of the examination system at Limerick Institute of Technology. [5785/03]

John Perry

Question:

88 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science when he intends to set up an inquiry into the integrity of the examination system at Limerick Institute of Technology; and when he expects this inquiry to report. [5787/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 50, 82 and 88 together.

As indicated in my reply to a previous parliamentary question, the inquiry into a particular breach in the integrity of the examinations in Limerick Institute of Technology has been delayed because the individual involved initiated legal proceedings in relation to his suspension by the Institute. I understand the legal proceedings in question are still pending. In the circumstances, it would be imprudent for me to take any further action in relation to an inquiry prior to the outcome of these legal proceedings.
