93 Mr. McGuinness asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the reasons the full FÁS payment rate of ?540.00 per week is not being paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who is completing a sixth phase carpentry course at Sligo IT; and if the situation will be rectified as soon as possible, in view of the fact that the course started on 13 January 2003. Determination of the appropriate allowance for individual apprentices is the day-to-day responsibility of FÁS which has statutory responsibility for administering apprenticeship. I have arranged for the Director General of FÁS to clarify for the Deputy the position as regards the individual case raised in this question.
