Vol. 562 No. 4

Written Answers - Airport Security.

Pat Breen

Question:

216 Mr. P. Breen asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if the American Government has, through diplomatic channels or otherwise, expressed concern regarding security at Shannon Airport; if his attention has been drawn to the concerns being expressed by the American Embassy in Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6493/03]

Officials of my Department and other relevant national authorities remain in ongoing contact with their US Embassy counterparts on a range of issues, including those to which Deputy refers.

While the Deputy will appreciate that it would be inappropriate for me to comment in detail on these exchanges, I can confirm that the US authorities have expressed general satisfaction with the security arrangements that are currently in place at Shannon Airport.
