244 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Education and Science if South Dublin County Council has been in correspondence with his Department requesting the construction of a footpath along the lands owned by his Department in Kingswood; and if his Department will examine this request in view of the obvious danger to pedestrians in the area. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will agree to the request from South Dublin County Council that a small parcel of land be provided by his Department on the lands at a location (details supplied) in order that the local authority in question can build a much needed footpath in this locality and thereby dramatically improve pedestrian safety in the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 244 and 257 together.
South Dublin County Council has not made an application to my Department to provide land for the construction of a footpath along the property in question. If such an application is received the matter will be considered and a decision conveyed directly to South Dublin County Council.
