Vol. 562 No. 4

Written Answers - Special Educational Needs.

Willie Penrose

Question:

273 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason his Department has failed to provide the necessary finance and to permit home tuition to continue for a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath who has special needs; if this matter will be expedited; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6574/03]

The child in question is currently receiving five hours resource teaching support per week together with special needs assistant support for the full school week. I have asked my Department's inspectorate to investigate whether additional support by way of home tuition is required. A decision will be conveyed to the child's parents following the inspectorate's review.
