Vol. 562 No. 4

Written Answers - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Enda Kenny

Question:

413 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has received correspondence relating to the quality of drinking water in Carraroe and Callaheigue, County Galway; the details of the upgrading of the water supply system to Carraroe and Callaheigue, County Galway; when it is envisaged that a new water supply system will be in place for Carraroe and Callaheigue, County Galway; when he expects the Carraroe sewerage scheme to be fully operational; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6172/03]

The Casla regional water supply scheme, which includes proposed improvements for the Carraroe and Callaheigue water supplies, is included in my Department's water services investment programme, as a scheme to advance through planning. A brief for the appointment of consultants to update the preliminary report for the scheme was received from Galway County Council in January 2003 and is under consideration in my Department. The Carraroe sewerage scheme is also included in the investment programme to advance through planning. The submission of a preliminary report for the scheme by Galway County Council is awaited by my Department.
