Vol. 562 No. 4

Written Answers - Motor Tax.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

415 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the extent to which wheelchair bound motorists are eligible for relief from motor tax; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6202/03]

Under motor tax law, vehicles not exceeding 400 kg. in weight adapted and used for wheelchair bound motorists are exempt from motor tax. Motor tax exemption is also provided under the Disabled Drivers and Disabled Passengers (Tax Concessions) Regulations 1994 made by the Minister for Finance and administered by the Revenue Commissioners.
