Question:

199 Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for Finance his legislative priorities for 2003 and for the remainder of the 29th Dáil. [6320/03]

The legislation programme for my Department is set out in the press release dated 27 January 2003 which was issued by my colleague, the Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach and Government Chief Whip, Deputy Hanafin. The details of my Department's programme for the current Dáil session are as follows. The Finance Bill 2003 is scheduled for Report and Final Stages in the Dáil on 4 and 5 March 2003 and the Central Bank and Financial Services Authority of Ireland Bill 2002 is scheduled for Report and Final Stages in the Dáil on 12 March 2002. The Houses of the Oireachtas Commission Bill 2002 is awaiting Committee Stage in the Dáil, while the Freedom of Information (Amendment) Bill 2003 was published on 28 February 2003. It was agreed as part of the negotiations on Sustaining Progress that the Public Service Management (Recruitment and Appointments) Bill will be published by summer 2003.

Other Bills being prepared are the Central Bank and Financial Services Authority of Ireland (No. 2) Bill, the Financial Services (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill, the Ombudsman (Amendment) Bill, the Civil Service Regulation (Amendment) Bill, the Oireachtas (Appointment of Inspectors to Assist Committees) Bill and the Revenue Bill. Primary or secondary legislation will also be required in relation to the law governing financial collateral, arising from an EU directive.
