Vol. 562 No. 4

Written Answers - Tax Rebates.

John Perry

Question:

206 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance if a person (details supplied) in County Sligo will receive the full rebate of emergency tax; when payment will be issued; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6305/03]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer was being taxed on the emergency basis because a certificate of tax credits and standard rate cut-off point had not been issued for her. There is no record of an application for tax credits from the taxpayer. The inspector of taxes has now issued a certificate of tax credits for the taxpayer and her employer has indicated that all tax overpaid since 1 January 2003 will be refunded to the taxpayer in her pay cheque on 7 March.

With regard to emergency tax deducted during 2002, the taxpayer should send her P60 for 2002 – certificate of pay, tax and pay-related social insurance, which she can obtain from her employer – to her inspector of taxes who will refund any tax overpaid as quickly as possible.
