Vol. 562 No. 5

Written Answers - Schools Building Projects.

Kathleen Lynch

Question:

260 Ms Lynch asked the Minister for Education and Science the criteria which was applied to select the 12 primary schools which were authorised to proceed to construction in the Schools Building Project as published in January 2003; and the number of primary school projects which had reached the same stage of development before the final 12 were selected. [6593/03]

The criteria published by my Department as part of the 2003 programme included guidelines that are being used to assess the priority to be afforded to projects and the factors to be considered when assigning band ratings.

Projects in architectural planning in 2002 or approved to go to tender in that year which were published on my Department's website at www.education.ie as part of the 2002 programme would not have been formally assigned a band rating although the criteria, as now published, have been applied in so far as practicable.
Large scale projects at an advanced stage of architectural planning, together with details of the relevant stage of the project, are set out at section 6 of the 2003 programme as published on my Department's website.
