Vol. 562 No. 5

Written Answers - Garda Operations.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

294 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform further to Parliamentary Question No. 222 of 18 December 2002, the reasons the information sought has not been provided; and if he will provide this information without further delay. [6782/03]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that when the requirement for a new offence is identified, the Garda legal research unit prepares a draft wording, which is then sent to the Director of Public Prosecution's office for approval. Once approved, the offence wording is sent to the Courts Service, who allocate a reference code to the offence. The offence wording and reference code are then entered into the PULSE database. I am also informed that there are no new offences awaiting inclusions on the PULSE system at present.
