Vol. 562 No. 5

Written Answers - Community Development.

Joan Burton

Question:

298 Ms Burton asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs if he proposes to invite the participation of community development support programmes in the proposed review of the CDSP; if such programmes in Blanchardstown and Clondalkin will be specifically invited to be part of the review; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6728/03]

My Department was established to produce a more co-ordinated engagement by the State with communities around the country, as they pursue their own development. In this regard, it is intended to undertake a review of the programmes and activities which come within the remit of my Department, with a view to achieving optimal coherence across the various schemes.

My Department is very keen to hear the views and comments of all projects and support agencies under the community development support programme in relation to how the structures in place might best be improved to bring about better coherence, both within programmes and between the various programmes operated by my Department. In that context, my Department is engaging in a wide-ranging consultative process, including all projects funded under the Community Development Support programmes.
