265 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the steps he has taken to protest against the detention in Israel of a person (details supplied); if he has condemned the manner of this person's abduction; and if he has sought the immediate release of same. [7207/03]

The person referred to has been convicted of a number of serious crimes. While the manner of his arrest is a matter of considerable dispute and speculation, the Israeli courts found that it did not prejudice his right to a fair trial. I have made no representations concerning this case.
