Vol. 563 No. 1

Written Answers - International Agreements.

Seán Crowe

Question:

319 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Education and Science the assessment that was carried out on the science and technology exchange agreement between Ireland and China to ensure that the State will not contribute, however indirectly, to the continuing arrest, harassment and ill-treatment of Chinese prisoners of conscience. [7016/03]

I assume that the Deputy is referring to the Agreement on Scientific and Technological Co-operation between the Government of Ireland and the Government of the People's Republic of China. This agreement was signed by the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment on 8 September 2000 during her visit to China and, therefore, any queries relating to this agreement are a matter for the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment.
