Question:

335 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the fact that Scoil Ursula national school, Sligo, wishes to retain the boys in the school from second class to sixth class as at present they are not accommodated; if permission will be given to the school to allow the boys continue from second to sixth class; when a Department official will make contact with the school authorities; the reason approval has not yet been granted; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7198/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 334 and 335 together.

Applications for change of status were received from the management authorities of both schools and have been processed in my Department. The applications were approved and letters issued to the relevant authorities on 5 March 2003.
