Written Answers - Hospital Staff.

Martin Brady

Question:

404 Mr. M. Brady asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of extra clerical staff which have been employed since all of the EHB was administered from Dr. Stephen's hospital pre-1999; the number of these extra jobs which were officially sanctioned; the nature of the positions created; the number of extra clerical staff in Leinster in 2002; the number of extra managerial positions; the number of extra medical positions, that is, consultants, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, speech therapists and district nurses which were created; the number of new general practitioner positions which were created, taking into account the number of general practitioners retired and resigned and died; the way in which St. Joseph's Hospital, Raheny, is being utilised; the number of surgical procedures which were carried out there; the reason these could not have been carried out in Beaumont Hospital; and the reason it accommodates private or public patients now. [7008/03]

The information requested by the Deputy is currently being compiled by my Department and will be forwarded to him directly. Responsibility for St. Joseph's Hospital, Raheny rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer to examine the matters raised by the Deputy and respond to him directly.
