494 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will request a report from the Garda on the recent upsurge in muggings along the main road at Fairview Mart and Fairview Park, Dublin 3; and the action they are taking to deal with this. [7072/03]
Since 1 January 2003, there have been two reported incidents of theft from persons in the area concerned. Both incidents occurred on 12 January, 2003, one on the Clontarf Road and the other on the main road at Fairview. Both incidents have been successfully investigated and prosecutions have been initiated. I am assured that the area in question will continue to be regularly patrolled by both uniform and plainclothes gardaí.
