Vol. 563 No. 4

Written Answers - National Development Plan.

Michael Ring

Question:

232 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Finance the amount of money which has been spent in the BMW area; and the breakdown of the money spent in each county of the BMW in relation to regional funds. [8157/03]

The most recent figures available for expenditure under the National Development Plan 2000-2006 in the Border, midlands and western (BMW) region are to the end of June 2002 and these were presented to the NDP/CSF (community support framework) monitoring committee by the managing authorities for the operational programmes on 29 November last. These figures show total NDP expenditure in the BMW region to the end of June 2002 to be €4,151.351 million. Total NDP expenditure in the BMW region is composed of Exchequer expenditure of €3,443.602 million, EU funding of €362.1 million, local authority and other public bodies' expenditure of €235.556 million and private expenditure of €110.092 million.

NDP expenditure to the end of 2002 is presently being compiled for the operational programme monitoring committee meetings in April and the overall NDP/CSF monitoring committee meeting on 13 June.

It is not at present possible to breakdown NDP expenditure in the BMW region to county level as this expenditure is reported to the operational programme and overall NDP/CSF monitoring committees at regional assembly level only.
