Question:

264 Mr. Cuffe asked the Minister for Education and Science his views on the suggestions that the Dublin Institute of Technology Music School intends to cancel the pre-instrumental and junior workshop classes from September 2003; his further views on the plans to reduce the duration of musicianship classes from one hour to 45 minutes from September 2003; his further views on the plans to cut back the number of part-time students by up to 300; and if this will not happen. The Dublin Institute of Technology is a statutory body established under the Dublin Institute of Technology Act 1992. Under that Act, the governance and day-to-day activities of the Institute are matters for which the governing body and the management staff of the institute are responsible. This includes decisions on the operation and management of the Dublin Institute of Technology School of Music.
