Vol. 563 No. 4

Written Answers - Schools Building Projects.

Pat Breen

Question:

275 Mr. P. Breen asked the Minister for Education and Science if urgent attention will be given to the application by Ballyea national school, Ennis, County Clare, for a school portacabin for September 2003 in view of the fact that it has now 118 students, only four teaching rooms and has qualified for an extra teacher in September 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7706/03]

The 2003 school building programme has now been published and full details on individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie.

On the basis of the budgetary allocation it was not possible to include any further projects in 2003. The budgetary allocation for 2004 and subsequent years will determine the rate of progress on applications/projects that could not be included in this year's programme.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

276 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the acute need for additional classroom accommodation at schools (details supplied) based on actual enrolment and new anticipated intake for the next academic year; if a decision has been made; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
