Vol. 563 No. 4

Written Answers - Youth Services.

Seán Crowe

Question:

289 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the validation for people wishing to be youth workers here comes from England; if he has plans to make this validation available here; and if he will consider attempting to make the process for validation an all-Ireland one. [7797/03]

My Department and I are aware of the current situation regarding the validation of youth work training in Ireland. The National Youth Work Advisory Committee, which is made up of representatives of both the statutory and voluntary youth sectors, is currently finalising a proposal for North-South validation of youth work training, following its discussions with youth training interests in both areas. The proposal will be submitted to me in the near future for my consideration.
