Written Answers - Youth Work Act.

Olwyn Enright

Question:

343 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science the further reports he is awaiting in relation to the Youth Work Act 2001. [8268/03]

The following reports in relation to the Youth Work Act 2001 are in course of preparation by the National Youth Work Advisory Committee, NYWAC, for my consideration: Criteria for the approval of national voluntary youth work organisations; and criteria for the designation of local voluntary youth work organisations.

These documents are being drawn up by this committee in accordance with the provisions of section 17(h) and (i) of the Youth Work Act 2001.

Olwyn Enright

Question:

344 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science when he intends to circulate the reports to the various interest groups that have been provided to him by the National Youth Work Advisory Committee; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8269/03]

To date, two reports have been made available by the National Youth Work Advisory Committee on the first two areas of action necessary to put in place the arrangements for the designation of local youth work organisations and the establishment of local voluntary youth councils in accordance with the provisions of section 17(i) and (j) of the Youth Work Act 2001.

The documents have been furnished to the Minister of State and have been approved in principle by her, although the committee is reconsidering its proposals on the designation of youth work organisations in the light of recent youth work developments. It is the Minister's intention to circulate these reports to the relevant interest groups at the appropriate time, when the other necessary preliminary arrangements for the implementation of the Youth Work Act 2001 have been completed.
