Vol. 563 No. 4

Written Answers - Youth Work.

Olwyn Enright

Question:

346 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science when he intends to implement the remaining provisions of the Youth Work Act 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8271/03]

The national youth work advisory committee is the statutory body appointed under sections 17 and 18 of the Youth Work Act 2001 to advise and consult with me in matters relating to youth work. At its meeting next month it will consider whether its implementation sub-committee might commence its work in relation to the guidelines, regulations and schedule necessary for the implementation of sections 11, 13, 16, 19, 20, 25 and 32 to 35, inclusive, of the Act.

It is my intention that discussions will continue contemporaneously within NYWAC and separately between my Department, the IVEA-CEOs' Association, the National Youth Council of Ireland and other youth interest groups in regard to the funding and human resources aspects of the implementation of the Act.
