Vol. 563 No. 4

Written Answers - Departmental Inquiries.

Olwyn Enright

Question:

356 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason he has decided not to progress matters early in 2003 in relation to a sworn inquiry at Limerick Institute of Technology as he said he would in his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 222 of 17 December 2002; and the circumstances which have changed in the meantime. [8281/03]

As indicated in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 222, reference No. 26632/02, and again in my reply to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 50, 82 and 88 of 27 February 2003, the inquiry into a particular breach in the integrity of the examinations in LIT has been delayed because the individual involved initiated legal proceedings in relation to his suspension by the institute. As the legal proceedings have not been concluded it would not be prudent for me to take further action in relation to an inquiry.
