Vol. 563 No. 4

Written Answers - Services for People with Disabilities.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

463 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the massive cutbacks of the Ashtree House respite care centre at Ballinasloe, County Galway, and to the fact that only eight children now receive a limited service of one to four nights respite a month; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that there are 26 children on the waiting list; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7948/03]

Responsibility for the provision of services to persons with an intellectual disability and those with autism in the Galway region lies with the Western Health Board. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matter and reply directly to the Deputy.
