470 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Health and Children if the application submitted by the North-Eastern Health Board for funding towards the equipping of the new nursing unit in Virginia will be approved at an early date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7979/03]
A sum of just over €1 million is required to equip the recently-built community nursing unit at Virginia, County Cavan. I have asked my officials to meet with senior management of the North-Eastern Health Board, within the next few weeks, to identify and discuss outstanding issues in relation to the opening of the new unit. Such discussions will also have regard to the overall funding situation for 2003. I intend to visit this community nursing unit shortly.
