Vol. 563 No. 4

Written Answers - Driving Tests.

Denis Naughten

Question:

518 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Transport when a person (details supplied) will receive a date for a driving test; the reason for a four month delay in receiving an appointment date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7862/03]

It is normal practice to issue test appointments four to five weeks in advance of the test date. In the case of the person concerned a test date has been arranged. Due to the recent unprecedented level of applications for driving tests, waiting times for tests generally have increased. Discussions are at an advanced stage with a view to securing agreement to a package of measures to address the backlog.
