Vol. 563 No. 4

Written Answers - Visa Applications.

Pat Carey

Question:

537 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if an application for a single journey visa to persons (details supplied) will be expedited; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7701/03]

The visa applications in question refer to dependants of persons who have been granted permission to remain in the State based on parentage of an Irish born child. These type of visa applications are not currently being processed by my Department. The Government has yet to determine the general policy to be adopted in respect of Irish born child applications and related issues such as the type of applications referred to by the Deputy. It should be noted that my Department no longer accepts separate applications to reside in the State purely on the basis of the birth of an Irish born child.
