Vol. 563 No. 4

Written Answers - Asylum Applications.

Finian McGrath

Question:

545 Mr. F. McGrath asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will review his position on asylum seekers working, and consider a case (details supplied). [7867/03]

On the basis of the details supplied by the Deputy, this question would appear to primarily relate to access by asylum seekers to work. It is not proposed to allow asylum applicants to take up paid employment pending a final decision being made on their applications. I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 302 on 12 February 2003 which deals in some detail with the reasons for this decision.
